Hey, I'm Adam

From Grave Digger to Tech Executive: My Journey

I want to share my story with you as I know many of you can relate to the start of it. I've built F3 in hopes that you can also relate to the end of it.

I come from a rural middle-class background. Growing up in New Hampshire, I was always told that I’d be a failure if I didn’t get a six-figure job. But here’s the thing—there were no jobs like that in my hometown.

I went to college and got a pretty generic degree. To pay the bills, I worked as a grave digger and a waiter. It wasn't easy, but it was necessary. I also started to rack up a lot of debt from student loans.

When I graduated in 2007, the market crash of 2008 hit hard. Finding a job was really tough. I had to go back to working as a grave digger and a waiter at different times just to make ends meet.

After college, I decided to move to a city to find a job. I landed a position in HR, but it didn’t pay well, and living in the city was expensive. Around this time, I met a girl, we got married, and started a family right away.

I knew I needed more money to support my growing family, so I went to grad school for human resources, which added even more debt. By my late 20s, I was drowning in debt and had to find a way out.

I applied everywhere and finally landed a job at a tech startup. The culture there was intense; the only thing that mattered was getting the work done. One day, a mentor told me, “Everyone is just looking things up all the time. You need to learn how to learn.” That advice changed everything for me.

I started writing down things I needed to learn and created a plan. I worked hard, and by my early 30s, I became an executive at the company. My life had completely turned around.

Each step along the way, I learned how to get it done. You’ve probably been told that if you work hard you’ll have a great job and earn tons of money - that’s not true. It is not about how hard you work, but it’s really about your decision making capabilities, communication, and your willingness to work with others. That's what sets you apart. I want to show you how to do it.

Fast forward to today: I have everything I've ever wanted. I have been married for 15 years, we have four kids, a great career, an awesome house, and I am crushing it! I spend my free time with my family in the woods, at the beach, and doing whatever they want to do. While there is still room for growth, I believe that I'm living out my dream of being a husband and father. Now I’m ready to help others learn what I’ve learned.

Remember, you’re never out—you just need to know what to do next.
